Have your “fair” share of Easter Eggs this year Posted on Apr 2nd, 2012 • 1 comments Happy Easter eco-friendly food lovers! It’s the perfect excuse to sneak a little (more) chocolate into our lives. Who doesn’t love those little Easter eggs wrapped in sparkly foil? Did you know that aluminium is the perfect recyclable material? Many city councils, including the Brisbane City Council, encourage residents to recycle alfoil as it is one of the most common materials cluttering up landfill yet it’s 100% recyclable in its current state! So you know where our Easter egg wrappers are headed this year… And… doesn’t chocolate taste even better when you know it’s fair trade? Fair trade chocolate means that cocoa farmers are using sustainable farming practices and are receiving a fair price for their produce. They also get additional funding which helps them to further their communities by investing in education and health care services. It is important that we support the fair trade industry because without a market we may not see them on our shelves for much longer. Each product that has a fair trade agreement with the farmers will display this logo The countdown is on, with three weeks left until our Eco-Friendly Food (Group) Challenge… jump online now and Register, you don’t want to miss out!
